Starting a podcast on Spotify is easier than many people think. The basic process is to plan your show, record your first episodes, set up a podcast account, and publish through Spotify for Creators or a podcast host that distributes to Spotify.
1. Define your podcast First, decide what your podcast is about. A clear theme, audience, and format will help you stay focused and make it easier for listeners to understand your show. Whether you want to talk about culture, education, lifestyle, or personal stories, start with a topic you can speak about consistently.
2. Record your first episode
You do not need a full studio to begin. Spotify’s guidance says you can start with a smartphone or computer, wired headphones, and basic recording software, especially for your first few episodes.
Focus on clear audio, steady speaking pace, and a short introduction that explains the show’s name, hosts, and main theme.

3. Set up Spotify for Creators
Create a Spotify for Creators account and enter your podcast details, such as the show name, description, category, and language. Spotify’s creator tools also support hosting, editing, and publishing from one place.
If you already host your podcast elsewhere, you can connect it through your RSS feed and submit it to Spotify as well.
4. Upload and publish
After your episode is ready, upload the audio file, add your title, notes, artwork, and other metadata, then publish it. Once published, episodes hosted with Spotify for Creators are available to Spotify listeners automatically.
5. Grow your show
After launch, consistency matters more than perfection. Keep a regular release schedule, make strong cover art, write clear episode descriptions, and use short clips or highlights to help people discover your show.
If you want to reach more listeners, you can also distribute your podcast to other platforms beyond Spotify.
Starting a podcast on Spotify is not just about technology. It is about having something worth sharing and building the confidence to share it one episode at a time.
